Rye Kansas City (Leawood)
Rye whiskey, rye beer, rye bread, Rye Kansas City? It makes sense, trust me. Rye Kansas City serves comfort food with a midwestern flare. Once you step into one of the two locations (Leawood & Plaza) you’ll understand. Take the first sip of your choice whiskey and relax a tad bit more. By the time you get to dessert, we promise you’ll be wishing your house was closer to this place.
For those looking for a vegetarian experience, might I suggest following my wife’s path: 8oz of a lovely Merlot paired with fried green tomatoes and a house salad sprinkled with a perfectly sweet goat cheese. Other amazing options are the heirloom tomato and basil salad, domestic cheese platter, or whipped goat cheese spread.
“Free” range menu from years of experience:
Being from the midwest I feel I can appreciate a menu that has you fully covered like Rye. Whether you’re looking for something from the sea, stream, prairie or air, you won’t be left out. The experience is directly attributed to owners Megan and Colby Garrelts and their unique vision for a dining experience not often seen in “fly over” country. This power chef couple have more accolades than this post has room for. Don’t believe me? Check out the pictures above. I suppose the success of Rye shouldn’t be that much of a surprise considering the Garrelts have another successfully American cuisine restaurant called Bluestem (stay tuned for another post of their popular sister restaurant). I suppose we could skip the review and assume a similar experience, but why would we deprive ourselves of such enjoyment.
So 3 forks, 8 spoons, 2 thumbs up, three dollar signs, or whatever your rating is, fuhgeddaboutdit and just enjoy a delightful meal in a rustic yet cozy environment. The Rye team is experienced and won’t let you down on your special night.
